Background: Generally, conservative interventions including physiotherapy modalities and manual therapy have been recommended in the management of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), but this subject has not been studied in diabetic patients with CTS. Therefore the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of manual therapy on diabetic patients with CTS. Methods: Thirty diabetic patients with...

Background and purpose: Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most prevalent neuropathy caused by trapping and median nerve compression in the wrist. This study aimed at comparing the effects of minimal incision and double incision in treatment of patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Materials and methods: This randomized controlled trial was performed in 50 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome atten...

OBJECTIVES To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture compared with steroid treatment in patients with mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) as measured by objective changes in nerve conduction studies (NCS) and subjective symptoms assessment in a randomized, controlled study. METHODS A total of 77 consecutive and prospective CTS patients confirmed by NCS were enrolled in the study. T...

A randomized sham-controlled trial of a neurodynamic technique in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.
STUDY DESIGN Randomized, controlled trial. OBJECTIVES To assess the believability of a novel sham intervention for a neurodynamic technique (NDT) in participants with signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Additionally, we wished to assess a potential mechanism of NDT (hypoalgesia) and to compare outcomes related to clinical pain and upper extremity disability between NDT and a s...
